Balotelli set to join Liverpool after a £16m deal

AC Milan’s Mario Balotelli is on his way to England for a medical, after Liverpool agreed a £16m fee for the services of the striker on Thursday.

Liverpool have finalised personal terms with the 24-year-old’s representatives and are set to offer him nearly £120,000 a
week.

The Reds are understood to have gotten assurances about ex-Manchester City striker’s commitment to training and off-
field discipline, with the club insistent that various clauses be inserted on the deal, in order to uphold his standards of behaviour.

The deal will not be done in time for the player to make his debut against former club Man City on Monday.

Balotelli joined City in August 2010 for £24m from Inter Milan and was instrumental in the side’s Premier League triumph in 2012.

He scored 30 goals in 80 games before moving to AC Milan, after
a training ground altercation with then- manager Roberto Mancini, in January 2013.

After agreeing a four-and-a-half-year deal at the San Siro, Balotelli went on to score 30 goals in 54 Milan games.

His performance at the 2012 European Championship, where he scored twice to help Italy reach the final, made him a
regular in the then-coach Cesare
Prandelii’s set-up.

He played in all three of Italy’s matches at the 2014 World Cup,including the winner against England in their penultimate group game.
